Zicam, Wahoo's, and Chulua

What do these three things have in common? Well I've determined that I have a cold of some sort probably due to my sinuses that keep clogging up when I sleep leading me to breathe through my mouth when I sleep and eventually a form of Sleep Apnea.

To battle this I'm taking Zicam a naturalpathic cold remedy that shortens the cold exponentially. I started taking this last night as the latter part of this past week I was consistently tired when I left client's offices in the early afternoon.

So, in addition to the Zicam Spray, I went to Wahoo's Fish Tacos and put a half of a bottle of Cholula Hot Sauce on my fresh fish tacos, Black Beans and Riceto clear out the Sinuses for the day.

Anyhoo, I feel like crap and I'm probably going stay in tonight and rest even though I want to go out and rage.

The stupidest Christmas Mass EVER!

Yes, that's right I went to the stupidest (Catholic) Christmas mass ever Sunday night.

I wasn't expecting to write another holiday blog until New Years but I had to write about this.

For the first 58-59 minutes the mass was great but the last one too two minutes of the mass was something I though I'd never see in a Catholic Mass. Normally at the end of Mass the priest normally would give a blessing to the congegration or they would say a few parting words on Christmas day.

Did that happen in this mass?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

What did he do you ask?

He led the congregation in a rousing rendition of 'Happy Birthday' to Jesus.

I said out loud (not that loud but loud enough for people around me to hear) "You've got to be frigging kidding me!" and left along with most of the congregation.

...and now Christmas/Religious wisdom from Peter Griffin

Peter Griffin on what Christmas is really about:

Christmas is the time of year when the ghost of Jesus rises from the grave to feast on the flesh of the living and we sing Christmas carols to lull him back to sleep.

Peter Griffin inquiring about Communion:

Peter: Wow, is that really the blood of Christ?
Preacher: Yes, it is.
Peter: Holy crap, that guy must've been wasted 24 hours a day.

When Peter's Hardcore Catholic father comes to town:

Grandpa Griffin: You're a good woman, Lois(Peter's Wife). Perhaps you won't burn in hell after all. Maybe you'll just go to purgatory with all the unbaptized babies.
Peter: There you go, Lois, you love kids.

Peter Griffin on raising kids in a Catholic Household:

Peter: I'm looking for some toilet training books.
Salesman: We have the popular 'everybody poops", or the less popular 'nobody poops but you'.
Peter: Well, you see, we're catholic...
Salesman: Ah, then you'll want 'you're a naughty, naughty boy, and that's concentrated evil coming out the back of you'.

Peter Griffin on the Bible:

Peter: We all love the bible in this house.
Francis: Really? What's your favourite book of the bible.
Peter: Umm ... the one where Jesus swallows the puzzle piece, and the man in a big yellow hat has to take him to the hospital.

Finally, a Christmas wish to everyone from Peter Griffin:

Merry Christmas to all, and to all, shut the hell up.

To the dense people reading this...

This is Funny...so laugh god damnit!

Things I'm learning about California/San Diego (aka. Merry Fucking Christmas)

One thing that I've learned is that there are as many Taco Stands as there are Starbucks Coffee Shops in Seattle....and they're all good!

One main thing I've learned in California is that there is definitley a different attitude in California than there is in the Northwest. California has a more mellow attitude and relaxed attitude even if some of them drive like Bulls in China shops.

Jimmy Buffett wasn't kidding when he sang 'Changes in Latitude, Changes in Attitude'.

California totally fits me better than the weather and attitude of the Northwest.

What is the attitude of the Northwest you ask?

The Northwest, for the most part, has basically one big small town hick attitude. With the hick attitude comes the trait of everyone being dumb enough to beleive everything that they read or hear at face value (Isn't that right Danny Boy of the Lower Mainland?).

It's pretty amazing the types of things that the sheepish people in the Northwest would beleive at face value. Oh the stories I could tell you. People are so stupid, they can't even tell the difference between fact and...let's say the bullshit of a few truly evil souls.

So to all of you in the Northwest (you know who you are) who fall into the category of the sheep that beleive everything that you hear at face value...here is my Christmas Present for you...actually, I'll let Johnny Cash handle this part...

Happy Festivus!

Well, I hope everyone had a Happy Festivus! I hope everyone had a great time in the Airing of Greviances and still have their Festivus Poles up (No Tinsel!!!).

Anyways, since Hallmark still refuses recognize Festivus as a legitmate holiday, here's a link to send e-cards to all who celebrate the Festivus Holiday!

http://www.crazygrrl.com/cards/choose.php?cat=1

...and now my aring of Greviances!

I hate you all!

Just Kidding!

Now it's time for your Jesus Break to relect on Jesus followed by New Years Eve where everyone Fucks up all the reflections they have made on Jesus in the previous week.

Things I'm learning about California/San Diego

This is more of a humor post than anything as I'm going to put, from time to time, things that I'm learning about California.

- Stop Lights/Stop Signs/and Speed Limits are just a 'suggestion' on the roads. For example, if I do even 5 to 10 miles over the posted speed limit of 65 or 70 on the freeways I'm always the slowest car on the roadway.

- Catsup in California isn't spelled 'Catsup' or 'Ketchup' it's spelled 'Hot Sauce' or 'Chulua'.

- Right now people in San Diego are bundling up like it's winter....even though it's 60-65 degrees outside.

King Kong - Peter Jackson Does it again!!!

Stop what you're doing right now and go see this movie!

I saw this movie last night and I was competely blown away by how amazing this movie was. From beginning to end this movie was a great thrill ride and Peter Jackson is not only making a case for numerous Oscar nominations but he is also cementing his place in Motion Picture history as one of the Greatest filmakers of all time. The Story, the animation, the selection of the cast, to Kong all are finely crafted together into a movie that will be remembered for quite a long time. This is an all-around fun thrilling move to go see.

I should also note that I'm not a fan of the latest trend of Hollywood churning out the crap Movie/TV show 'remake' films. I normally would not have seen this film because Hollywood and creativity normally aren't mentioned in the same sentence together (in this day and age). However, Peter Jackson is one of the very few actors/directors I will pay money to go see without knowing what the film is about.

I've been a fan of Jackson's since the 80's when I saw his first film 'Bad Taste' on Video and was completely amazed by the impact that such a low budget film had. This impact still plays true today as one of Jackson's filmmaking talents is that he has been able to get the most film out of the money he's been budgeted for a project. I have seen every single film he's made and, to this day, he hasn't made a 'stinker'. He's that good of a filmmaker.

Now I want you to check out what all the critics are saying about King Kong:

http://www.kingkongmovie.com/quotes.html

For the first time ever, I agree with every single critic comment about the movie. Expecially the last one. This is indeed one of the best movies of all time. You've probably seen some reviews from critics that were complaining about how long the movie is (it clocks in at three hours). What ever you do don't listen to them and place their comments in the 'whiny bitches' category and go see this movie.

With King Kong Jackson was given complete creative control over this film which I beleive hasn't been given to a filmmaker since Stanely Kubrick was given such freedom to make whatever film he wanted. However, credit must also go to the real stars of this film is not only the beautiful Naomi Watts but Andy Serkis not only playing the Cook on the Venture but King Kong as well (http://imdb.com/name/nm0785227/).

Serkis basically reprised his Lord of the Rings role as a computer graphic model (He was a computer graphic modified Gollum in the three 'Lord of the Rings' Movies) but this time he basically did everything as Kong. Serkis's acting along with the work of Peter Jackson's animation shop, put the most realistic computer animation on the big screen for the first time that I can remember. Normally during movies you can tell when computer animation replaces real actors (the Matrix: Revolutions comes to mind) but not once did the illusion of the world of 'King Kong' get ruined by bad animation editing.

I could go on and on about how great this movie is but I'll just say that you should go see this film in the theater (and pay full price!) while you have the chance.

The Story Continues

Well, I'm sitting in an internet cafe at the moment finishing up some business. I had to create a sample web page link made up of only images and submit it to a potential client today. This is the award show client I was talking about. It took some time to do today but I finished it in pretty good time.

Since everyone is interested in what I'm writing and doing I might as well save some people some trouble by giving a rough sketch of what I'm doing this week:

- Going to find an open Mic and/or a blues jam because I need to get back up playing my guitar again.

- Canucks games (that's a big fat duhhhh for those of you who know me)

- Writing my memoirs. I'm basically focusing on the past few years and what happened from my perspective. It's something I need to do for myself and to show others what exactly went on 'behind the scenes' as it were.

- I'm in the process of working on my Web Design Business and getting more customers.

- Meeting new people/Business contacts in San Diego and LA.

- Exercising. I've gone from a 44+ waist size to a 38-40 in about nine months and I have a long way to go. I'm not satsified on where I'm currently at weight wise.

- Having fun. Well, since I'm getting my business off th ground, I don't exactly have the phat funds (yet) to do what I want.

- Planning on going back up to LA for more meetings with potential clients this week.

WOOF! 8-0 Baby!!!

Anaheim, Calif. (DP) --I just got back from the John Wooden Classic at the Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim with free tickets I won The National Bar and Grill across the street from Edison Fie....Angel's Stadium At anaheim...crap I don't know what the fuck they call it now, it's always been The Halo. Anyways, I got the tickets from a couple that won them in a trivia game at the bar and they couldn't make the game.

You might as well call the New Mexico Lobos the New Mexico Bricklayers because that's all they shot in the first half. Even if the rim was enlarged four times it's normal size the Lobos...sorry...Bricklayers still would not have been able to make a basket.

You've got to give credit to the Huskies for not only an amazing smothering Defense. However, I'm wondering if they should get credit for intimidating the Bricklayers into playing so poorly. It just seemed that part of the reason New Mexico did so poorly was that they were mentally not in the game.

That all changed during half time because New Mexico Coach Richie McCay must have torn the Bricklayers a new asshole as the team transformed from a team that couldn't hit the broad side of a barn into a team that just about negated all of the Huskies strengths in the second half. They narrowed the gap from as many as twenty points to one point but could never take the lead.

If the Huskies don't crack the top ten from their first half performane alone, then the rating system is simply flawed.

Also, if the organizers of the event want to make this a Great Classic have the winners of each game play each other the next day. I was talking to a bunch of Nevada Wolfpack fans (UCLA and Nevada played each other in the the second game of the double header today) and they shared the same view as I did. I would have paid money to see UCLA and the Huskies square off with one another even though they will this season.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=253440264

http://www.woodenclassic.com/game1.html

You heard it hear first! The Ottawa Senators are overrated!

I'm posting this so late because I was at the John Wooden Classic at the Duck Pond today watching the #12 University of Washington play New Mexico and then watching #18 UCLA play #22 Nevada in a great doubleheader.

Anaheim, CA (DP) -- The Ottawa Senators are overrated. That's right. I said it! The Vancouver Canucks played a great game last night. Start to finish. The Scoring egos of the Senators were certainly burst in Vancouver (and from what I'm seeing they're getting burst again in Calgary right now). Vancouver clearly did their homework and executed their gameplan, with the exception of what seemed to be a mental lapse on a Powerplay and a deflection goal that I don't think anyone could have stopped, to perfection.

Well, I got to see the first Sportsnet (Canada) Canucks broadcast of the Season (for me anyways) from the National Bar and Grill in Anaheim, CA (It's across the Street from the Angel Stadium at Anaheim) and this was a great game from start to finish. I've got notes I wrote for the game but I've got a few other posts to make.

Next up, the Canucks visit the Big Apple on Tuesday!

Here's the Post Game Blurb from the Canucks.com Inside Edge Mailing list:

If the league-leading Senators are a measuring stick, the Canuck ruler was an awfully interesting read after Friday night’s game.

It took all 65 minutes and more to decide a winner, but in the end, the Canucks pulled out a 3-2 win.

Daniel Sedin scored in a sudden death shootout, flicking the winner over Dominik Hasek’s glove, after Alex Auld stopped Jason Spezza and Danny Heatley.

“I knew I wanted to shoot it,” said Daniel. “I just tried to fake and then go for the shelf. It was nice to see it go in.”

The goal earned a crucial two points for Vancouver, who now sit tied atop the Northwest Division with the Flames, and are an impressive 13-1 on home ice.

“It was pretty easy [to get up] coming into this kind of game,” said Daniel. “We were playing the best team in the league. Everyone was ready and we played a full 60 minutes. It was an important win.”

The Canucks held a 2-1 lead heading into the third, but fell into a 2-2 tie when Andrej Meszaros’s lazy point shot caromed off Bryan Allen and behind Auld five minutes in.

The Sens, who had been bottled up for most of the night, got a lift after the tying goal, but couldn’t manage the go-ahead marker.

Four penalties in the final 11 minutes of the third didn’t help their cause.

Though the power play failed down in the third with a chance to win it in regulation, Canuck special teams scored in the first.

Markus Naslund beat Hasek with a wrist shot 67 second after the opening face-off peeling off the half boards and picking a hole though traffic.

Ex-Canuck Peter Schaefer scored shorthanded two minutes later shooting on a 2-on-1 rush to tie it 1-1, albeit briefly.

Henrik Sedin’s eighth of the year with two minutes left in the first, came on an Ottawa power play.
Hasek charged out to poke check Daniel on a breakaway, but couldn’t stop Hank from burying the rebound.

“I think we came out strong and we came out hungry in the first period,” said Todd Bertuzzi. “We put the puck in and had some opportunities early. The key was getting the first goal to get ourselves in it.”

“It was a playoff atmosphere. It was one of those games where you’ve got to dig real deep in order to be successful, and we did a lot of that tonight.”

Meszaros’s third-period goal that tied the game 2-2 threatened to derail all the effort.

A Vancouver power play that scored on its very first try, was blanked the rest of the way despite 12 chances – a pair of which were lengthy two-man advantages.

Hasek was the reason. ‘The Dominator’ stopped 36 shots and twice threw up a desperation appendage in goalmouth scrambles to steal goals off Brendan Morrison’s stick.

“He’s one of those goaltenders who’s exciting to play against and one who the fans love to see,” said Bertuzzi.

Hasek wouldn’t say the same about him. Bert spent the bulk of his 25 minutes battling for a plot of ice at the top of Hasek’s crease, despite 6’9”, 260-pound Zdeno Chara’s best efforts to dissuade him.

“He [Bertuzzi] opens up a lot of ice out there,” said Morrison. “Guys don’t want to go into corners against him. He wins a lot of battles and he moves the puck well. He played a great game tonight.”

Though Bert was far from the only one.

The NHL’s best line of Heatley-Spezza-Alfredsson, was held scoreless for only the second time this season.

“Ohlund and Sami did a good job against them,” said Ed Jovanovski, who logged probably his best 29 minutes of the year against the Senators.” We talked about it before the game, it’s tough because all you’re doing is concentrating on those three guys, but we played them well.”

Inspired is probably a more apt word. The defense gave up just one even strength goal to a Senators team that averages five a game, and it was a lucky deflection.

Auld helped, making 21 stops in his 10th win of the year, including a pair of pad saves off Chara and Alfredsson in the third after Ottawa rallied behind Meszaros’s goal.

“I think we were really up for it and our back check was the best it’s been all year,” said Auld. ”We were really finishing hits.”

“They’re a great team, but we played the way we wanted and were able to shut them down.”

Auld’s biggest saves of the year came in the shootout. Only Alfredsson scored, and Auld stopped Spezza and Mike Fisher back-to-back with the game on the line.

“Every goal and every save is so important in that situation – especially when you get to sudden death. There’s definitely a lot of pressure, but it’s pretty fun too because the building is so loud.”

NOTES

OFFENSE

Only two goals, but easily the best effort put forth by Canuck forwards this year.

The West Coast Express won the war of the big lines. Mainly because Bertuzzi fought like a Visigoth along the boards and took on mammoth Zdeno Chara in some epic crease battles on the power play.

And if it wasn’t for some classic psychic goaltending by Hasek, Morrison scores at least two. Though Mo did finish with a team-high seven shots on goal.

The Twins were demons on both special teams, and Richard Park and Trevor Linden created breakaways by stealing pucks in the neutral zone.

DEFENSE

Jovanovski played like an Olympian. He not only kept Ottawa forwards from getting a foothold in the Canuck zone, but went to war with Chara on the power play.

Over 11 minutes on the power play helped Sami Salo reach 28:41 of ice against his former team. He finished six shot and was a plus-one.

SPECIAL TEAMS

Ottawa’s 16 penalties were a testament to Vancouver’s work ethic. The Canucks fought through checks and dared the Sen’s defense to stop them. They often did, but got called for it.

The battles in front of Hasek alone were worth the ticket. Both Jovanovski and Bert went head-to-head with the Slovakian giant and didn’t give an inch.

SAVES

Any one of Hasek’s half-dozen flops in his crease could earn honors, but on a night when Auld flashes a glove on Fisher in a sudden-death shootout, he wins.

NUMBERS

1 – shootout wins by the Canucks this season.

15 – seconds after the opening draw it took the Sen’s big line to generate a quality scoring chance on Auld.

25 – points by Henrik Sedin through 30 games (8-17-25).

4 – penalties taken by Mike Fisher.

6 – hits thrown by Todd Bertuzzi, the most on either team.

1 – NHL goals by former Vancouver Giant Andrej Meszaros after his 50-foot, third-period floater bounced in off Bryan Allen.

SCRATCHES

Dan Cloutier (knee), Matt Cooke (broken jaw), Tyler Bouck (groin).

Next up: Jagr and Tom Renney’s revitalized Rangers in NYC.

GAME STARS

1. Daniel Sedin – an assist in regulation, and the winner in overtime.
2. Dominik Hasek – without his 36 saves, the Sens penalty kill goes down in flames.
3. Alex Auld – stopped arguably two of the world’s best snipers in a shootout with all of Vancouver watching.

Well, I'm in LA at the moment and one of the best matchups of the season happens tonight where the best team in the East, the Ottawa Senators play the Vancouver Canucks at the Garage (Nickname for General Motors Place in Vancouver B.C.). This could very well be a matchup of the Stanley Cup finals in June (If Bertuzzi starts banging and punishing again) and promises to be a great game if both teams show up to play.

The San Diego Story continues....

Well, I've got a few moments of downtime and wanted to update everyone on what I'm doing so far. I'm sitting in a Coffee Shop in the big SD listening to Pearl Jam's 'Alive' (By the way I'm in the video for 'Alive' which was filmed before their first CD hit the streets. It's a great story that I'll post some other day.) I'm still working on getting my Web Design business off the ground and have a few clients so far and am in negotiations for some big ticket clients. I still don't have a place to live as of yet but after three months, things are starting to pick up.

I'm heading up to Los Angeles tomorrow and will be meeting with a few prospective clients tomorrow across the Los Angeles area. I'm not going to say who they are until the contracts are signed. I will say that one of them is for a Major Awards show.

I will more than likely be staying the night in the Los Angeles area overnight so I can go see the #12 University of Washington Huskies Mens Basketball team play New Mexico in Anaheim at the John Wooden Classic. WOOF!

Right now I'm just pooping around and listening to a crappy 311 song....well, everything after their first CD is crap.

Forgot to add a few things last night.

- I've been losing TONS of weight since becoming a vegetarian and working out on a regular basis. I'm at the point to where my belt is barely holding up my pants and I can take off my pants without unbuttoning them.

- I'm hoping to voulenteer at the FOCAS San Diego booth at La Jolla Holiday Parade this weekend. I'm pretty bored and I need something to do. I figure why not help out with something of this sort to alleviate the boredom and do something good.

MIKE JONES!!! - Inside joke for Radio Bam listeners (Margera from Jackass/Viva La Bam) on Sirius Radio.

Right now I'm in a Coffee Shop in San Diego taking a break from working on a client's Web Project. This is one of the businesses that I'm starting from the ground up and I have a few more potential clients lined up at the moment (nothing solid as of yet One of the things I'm trying to do is to not have to rely on the false security of a paycheck from week to week and be able to automatically generate income for myself. I've done lots of research and you definitely need a change of mindset before you can attempt something like this. As I was talking to a prospective business partner last night, If I knew what I know now at the Start of College, I may have not stayed all four years. That and the discovery that people with M.B.A's spent five or sometimes six figures to get a degree to learn how to work for someone (as opposed to being the boss). I can't even believe that. What a waste of time and money.

- I've become a Bruce Springsteen fan from listening to the dedicated 'Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band' channel on Sirius Sattelite Radio. His studio work isn't that great overall but the Live concerts they have on every night (spanning his entire career) are simply amazing to listen to.

- I'm still trying to get things off the ground and I have lots of leads for different types of (paying) jobs.

- Canuck's goalie Alex Auld is going to need to step up his game if he's even going to entertain the idea of taking over Current Starting Goalie Dan Cloutier's job.

- When I see things like this going on in Seattle (where I used to live for those of you keeping score at home):

- I have absolutely no regrets about moving to San Diego where it was 80 degrees inland today!

- Anyhoo, I've been meeting lots of beautiful women in San Diego as I'm getting myself established right now. Basically, if I start talking to you right off the bat, I'm interested in you, if not I'm just looking to meet new people.

- I'm going to need to make plans for New Year's. I've got to find someone who likes to go out and have a great time on the town. I've got a few people in mind at the moment.

- Gotta get back to work.
